HOWL-A-WEEN Frozen Pumpkin Dog Treats
These healthy and dog friendly frozen treats are perfect for your pooch to enjoy and share in the spooky fun this Halloween.
Anybody that knows me knows these 2 very important things….
1. I love dogs
2. I LOVE HALLOWEEN
I proudly confess that I own considerably more Halloween decorations than I do or ever will have Christmas decorations, and each year I approach the task of decorating my house for Halloween and spooking the neighbourhood children with far more gusto than is probably normal and or necessary.
Sooooooo it goes without saying that I was going to do a special Halloween themed blog post.
If you are lucky enough to get trick or treaters visit your home, you may or may not (depending on whether you are one of those grouchy Australians that likes to ruin the fun by preaching “Halloween is American, we are in Australia.” All the while drinking a Coke, as you check Facebook on your iPhone and dance around to Beyonce in your Nikes) be starting to stockpile treats to hand out to all the little ghouls and goblins that come knocking at your door.
Being the crazy dog lady that I am, I didn’t want my poochies to miss out this year, so I created these dog friendly and healthy treats for them to enjoy.
HOWL-A-WEEN FROZEN PUMPKIN DOG TREATS
½ cup pumpkin puree
½ cup bone broth
¼ cup kefir or plain yoghurt
1 teaspoon organic raw honey
Halloween themed silicon mould. I purchased mine on eBay, or you can purchase these identical moulds via Amazon.
1. Combine your pumpkin puree and bone broth, stirring until well mixed.
2. Pour the pumpkin mixture into your mould, filling each by 2/3.
3. Place in the freezer for half an hour, or until set.
4. Mix the honey and kefir or yoghurt.
5. Top up each mould with yoghurt mixture.
6. Place back in the freezer for 1-2 hours or until set.
7. Give to your pups to enjoy.
What are you doing to celebrate Halloween in your household? Do your puppers get dressed up?
Remember to share a photo of your pups chomping on their Howlaween pumpkin treats and share them via our Facebook and/or Instagram page and tag us @barkingbotanicals with #barkingbhowlaween.
